What are perks in rs3? ›

Perks are effects added to weapons, armour, or tools with Invention. They are created by combining materials inside a gizmo shell. The resulting gizmo is attached to an item that has been augmented with an augmentor. Perks are created within three types of gizmo shells (weapon, armour and tool).

Fortune is a perk made with Ancient Invention that causes a tool to have a chance of doubling items and sending them to the bank, metal bank, or material storage container. The doubled items do not generate any experience. It can be created in ancient tool gizmos with classic, timeworn, or vintage components.

Good ranged weapons to augment are black salamanders, hand cannons and the Royal crossbow. For mages, popular weapons to augment and disassemble include the Abyssal wand and abyssal orb, Crystal staff, Sunspear (magic) and staff of light.

The equipment separator is a device available at level 115 Invention. It can be used on augmented items of equipment level 15 and above to remove the gizmos from the item, without destroying either the gizmos or items. The item will remain augmented, retaining the item level and experience present on it.

Dungeoneering, Invention, Slayer, Herblore, Farming, Archaeology, and Necromancy are currently the only seven skills that have levels past 99 up to 120.

Fortune is an enchantment applied to mining and digging tools that increases the number and/or chances of specific item drops. It does not increase experience drops.

Maximum limits

The limit of coins stored in the money pouch is substantially higher at 2,147,483,649,147,483,647 (2.1 quintillion), which is approximately equivalent to 2.1 billion times 1 billion plus 2.1 billion (the exact formula is ( 2 3 1 − 1 ) × 1 0 9 + ( 2 3 1 − 1 ) ).

Items augmented with Invention (whether or not they have gizmos) no longer use the equipment degradation system, and instead drain charge from a central charge pool each second of combat. This applies to all augmented items including those that did not degrade before augmentation.

The most powerful non-degradable Ranged weapon is the twisted bow, requiring a minimum of level 75 Ranged to wield.

Gizmos with perks in them do not stack in the bank, even if they have the same perks. However, empty gizmo shells do stack in the bank. Empty gizmo shells: Weapon gizmo shell.

You should always siphon your equipment at level 12 for maximum experience rates.

Each piece of gear will give you an amount of points towards one or two perks. Once you've reached the required number of points for a perk by equipping enough gear of that type, the perk is activated. If the equipped gear gives less points than the minimum required for a perk, it will not activate.

Charms are items used mainly in the Summoning skill as a requirement to create Summoning pouches. They are obtained primarily as drops from any of hundreds of different monsters. Charms are usually dropped independently from the monster drop list.
