When soldier Paul Sutton (Keanu Reeves) is on his way home after World War II, he realizes that he barely knows his young wife, Betty (Debra Messing). With the couple's relationship strained and Paul haunted by memories of the war, he is happy to have a diversion in the form of beautiful traveler Victoria Aragon (Aitana Sánchez-Gijón). Circumstances force Paul to pose as Victoria's new husband for her close-knit Mexican-American family, a situation that brings tension and unexpected results.

Christine B I love that the critics give it a low rating but the rest of us enjoyed it! It was a very sweet, family-centric movie of a time gone by. Yet, it still rings true ev even now. The acting from all the actors was amazing! So much so it made you fall in love with the characters. The heroine of this movie is relatable to those like myself that come from a background such as this. The need to have the blessing from your parents and the longing for a man that came to your aid without hesitation but would never be accepted for cultural reasons is something that can echo with many women. Not to mention how beautiful the scenery was!
